Biography
John A. (Jack) MacGiffert is a Certified Indoor Environmental
Consultant, Certified Mechanical Contractor, LEED-AP and a Project Management
Professional. He has over 40 years of experience in the engineering and
construction industry and currently is a Subject Matter Expert in the
Construction Claims and Consulting Group for HKA.
Mr. MacGiffert is an expert in the energy
and environmental areas of construction and has extensive field experience in
these area including, but not limited to power plants, industrial complexes,
healthcare, educational, governmental, high-rise office, hotel, housing,
military, theme park, transportation, retail and general commercial and
residential projects. Prior to joining HKA, Mr. MacGiffert owned an
environmental contracting firm that performed mold remediation, asbestos
abatement and hazardous material remediation.
Mr.
MacGiffert has testified as an expert in construction dispute related matters
involving quantum, cost, schedule, standard of care and productivity with
resultant delay and disruption.
Mr. MacGiffert
serves as a construction consultant to the insurance industry performing damage
assessments, estimates and reports for claims involving property loss, business
interruption, construction defects and subrogation.
Mr.
MacGiffert also serves as an author and instructor for the professional
development of architects, engineers and contractors throughout the
country.He provides formal instruction
in the fields of Power Engineering, Sustainable Design, Disaster Recovery and
Design, Construction Trends, Design/Build, Solving Water Intrusion and Mold
Problems in North Carolina, Toxic Mold, Construction Claims Avoidance, High Performance
Project Management, Construction Contracting, Risk Management, Ethics and
Managing Construction Claims and Disputes.
